Congratulations and welcome to the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l! You join more than 74,000 pilots at now 42 Canadian and U.S. airlines as we work toward better working conditions, contracts, and careers. Together, we are advancing the airline pilot profession.

As a Keewatin pilot, ALPA’s services, resources, and benefits are now available! We want to make it as easy as possible for you to participate in your union. To make the most of this opportunity, follow these three simple steps:

1: Become a Member and Reap the Benefits
If you filled out a membership card during the organizing campaign, you are now an ALPA member. Congratulations!

As a member, use your member number to access many benefits.  You can setup a password at mypassword.alpa.org.  Your login will give you access to www.alpa.org as well as the following:
  • ALPA Aeromedical
If you are concerned about a medical problem that may affect your certification or are already dealing with Transport Canada medical certification issues, please call ALPA’s Aviation Medical Advisory Services toll-free at 1-866-237-6633. If necessary, AMAS will coordinate with David Noble. Have your ALPA number on hand for free, confidential medical advice.

  • Insurance Products Designed for Canadian Pilots
ALPA offers several member insurance products and, as part of your dues, every Canadian ALPA member receives a $20,000 life insurance policy with an expedited claims procedure that will provide funds to your designated beneficiary upon your death. Learn more about the products, including what might fit best for you and your family, and take advantage of a special ALPA member insurance open enrollment period for Keewatin ALPA members.

  • Download the ALPA App
With your membership access, explore the ALPA app for information about the union and several useful tools, including your membership card, a Canadian flight- and duty-time calculator, the ALPA Worldwide Accident/Serious Incident Hotline, and ALPA’s Flight Finder jumpseat search tool. Learn more about our services and the latest from your new MEC at kew.alpa.org.
For those of you who did not complete a membership card during the organizing campaign please submit your application online. If you have questions, call ALPA’s Membership Administration Department at 1-888-FLY-ALPA (press 3 and 3 again) during regular business hours. The sooner we receive your application, the faster we can activate benefits.

2: Meet Your ALPA Representatives
A single local council was created to serve your pilot group immediately after the Canada Industrial Relations Board certified ALPA as your representative, putting in place a structure Keewatin pilots can use to address any immediate issues that might arise as your legal bargaining agent before you elect permanent representatives. This single local council will also serve as your Master Executive Council.

KEW, Local Council/Master Executive Council- (LEC/MEC)

Local Council 262 – Winnipeg
Capt. Lahiru Gunawardhana, Captain Rep and Chair
F/O Fraser Mackeen, First Officer Rep and Vice Chair
Capt. Matt Caissie, Secretary/Treasurer

These representatives selected Capt. Lahiru Hunawardhanaas chair to serve until you elect permanent representatives and officers. through an online process in the coming weeks. If you are classified as an active member in good standing with ALPA, you will be able to participate in this process

3: Get Involved
ALPA is a member-driven, staff-supported organization. Keewatin pilots will set the group’s strategic goals, determine the course of action, and participate on MEC and ALPA committees. Please participate in pilot group meetings and activities and consider serving on a committee. If you are interested in volunteering, e-mail your reps and let them know your areas of interest.

The Association looks forward to working with you and your representatives to achieve the Keewatin pilots’ goals. Thanks again for your interest and welcome to the Association!
