A message from your KEW Master Executive Council

March 18, 2025

Fellow pilots,

We are pleased to share that Captain Brad Townsend has stepped up as a volunteer to serve as our new MEC Membership Committee Chair.

A Little Background From Brad

I grew up commercial fishing on the west coast and went to flight school in 2013. My first job in aviation was towing gliders and trapping minnows. After minnow trapping, I continued with bush flying in northern BC for several years while also fishing in the off seasons.

I came to Keewatin Air at the beginning of 2024 for the Manitoba contract on the PC-12. The lifestyle and schedule here was a relief, as it allows a freedom I have not previously experienced without the support of a union.

I look forward to helping our pilot group. I attribute much of our progress to working as a team and am excited to see further progress.

Thank you, Brad, for taking on the new role, and we look forward to working with you.

With that being said, the MEC still has multiple committee vacancies that we would like to fill.

We are looking to fill the following committees:

  • Professional Standards (ProStans)
  • Accommodation & Transportation
  • Social Media
  • Scheduling
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Fatigue

If you have the time, please consider volunteering. Your willingness to serve will directly impact and strengthen all pilots at Keewatin Air. Please email keewatinpilots@alpa.org with your interest. From there, we can have a more thorough conversation on how your skills and background would best suit an applicable role within our MEC committee structure.

In unity,

Your MEC
