Extension of LOU for Overtime

As you are aware, we, your MEC, agreed with Management to a 60 Day LOU for Extra Days (over time) for all Keewatin pilots that began on June 13, 2024.

As part of the LOU, the extra day pay had been increased to 1.5X the regular day rate for all Keewatin pilots.

We are pleased to share that the LOU for Extra Days pay has been further extended an additional 60 days.

The LOU will now be in place until October 11, 2024.

We believe and know our pilots deserve fair wages for overtime that reflect our colleagues’ wages at similar Canadian carriers.

Negotiating Committee Update

Earlier this month, your Negotiating Committee met with Management with a mutually understood goal of achieving our first Tentative Agreement (TA) as ALPA members. Initially, the meeting started off very positively.

Unfortunately, after the Association presented an offer to Management that while had some fair elements within it, still offered many sacrifices and conciliations by the Negotiating Committee.

This offer should have sealed a one-year deal and allowed the company to negotiate their client contracts. This would have been beneficial to both the Company and the Association to set a baseline for future contract negotiations. However, the Company decided to ignore this. We are now waiting to see the Company’s next steps.

We are extremely disappointed by the Company’s lack of motivation to negotiate and agree on an industry-standard contract for our members. The Company has a complete disregard for recognizing our efforts and personal sacrifices we continually make in order to ensure Keewatin’s services and operations remain safe and efficient.
